Worth

Worth is determined in so many ways today, usually referring to currency of some form or investment.  "Worth" seems to be measured and associated with money, instead of associating it with ourselves,  (self- worth).  We are all beautifully invaluable, unique, and special individuals, each of us, priceless, with individual character, worthy of respect, truth, and honor.

How is worth defined in my tattered 20 year old Merriam-Webster Dictionary?  I will sum up the definition:   1.  Monetary value; The value of something measured by its qualities and the esteem in which it is held.  2. moral or personal value.  3.  MORAL esteem and which it is held.

Wisdom Word definition:  The highest level and regard for humanities value and our personal regard and value for ourselves.  Eternal worth which cannot be measured by dollars and cents.

Do you know your worth?  (NOT NET WORTH).  Do you know the value of yourself?  When you think of "worth", do you think of yourself, or a price tag pinned to you or others?

Many of us, when giving an opinion or advice, preface the first thing we say  is, "For what its worth"  This preface, implies we aren't competent to give the opinion or advice but, most of us use this phrase including myself.  We should "drop the line, "for what its worth", and think about what it implies:  "for what I am worth".  Like affirmations, which I wrote about in my previous post, the negative programs our brain and theirs, that there may not be "value", to our advice or opinion.  Our credibility was established by the fact they asked for our advice or opinion to start with.

It is not by mistake we define "worth" this way.  Money measuring worth, means NET WORTH and that seems to be the direction taken when using this wisdom word, forgetting about what it mainly should focus on.

Worth is about YOU, and remembering you are unique, invaluable, and priceless.  Worth, is not about your bank account, despite its definition.  When you think of the wisdom word, worth, reprogram your brain to associate the word with yourself, because remembering our value, especially for ourselves and those we love, reminds us why we love them to begin with.  We focus on our positive qualities, which make up who we are.

Today's society focuses too much on how much money we have, and what their assets are worth, instead of remembering we have a bank account within ourselves and we hold all the riches in the world in our own vault.  God gave us all the worth we choose to acknowledge, and worth, is not about money.  We were not born with a price tag on our heads, so lets not live that way.

Today, please allow yourself to think about your worth, and all you have to offer, and the talents you hold within and the talents you have yet to tap into.  We increase our "worth" every single time we give, and our worth increases, unlike money, which we spend, decreasing worth.  We grow richer each time we try something new, and by giving, we "deposit" money in our own account.

Increase your worth by spending your time productively, and most important, don't lose your true value, by placing your "worth" in what you have.  Worth, is about "who you are" and the beauty and revelations everyday of finding out who that is.
