Sometimes, I have to write on what is surrounding our world, and Addiction, is definitely playing a big role with my loved ones, personally, and perhaps this might help my children understand addiction, and you as well.

My children are very bright and they don't understand why our relatives, can't make up their mind,
to stop their addiction and use their will power to do so.

I believe our minds are like computers, in some ways.  I have come up with three modes of thinking,

First, We have the "Proactive Mode"-  The "proactive mode is the mindset we are in when we want to make changes that are POSITIVE in our life, and this requires setting goals, doing affirmations, and feeding your mind with good things, for a good outcome.  Staying in the Proactive Mode  is not
always the easiest thing, because we all respond to our environment, but self-awareness can help with strengthening our resolve.

IF our environment is surrounded with negativity, we can move into the "Default Mode".  this is the mode of thinking and lack of action with goal setting.  You are in the Default Mode when you are in a comfort zone.  Life is okay for you, and acceptable.  Why change anything?  the problem?  Your not "growing"   Eventually we look for something different, or work to make things better with what we have, ideally.  Realistically, some of us frankly, get bored with our lives.

The Default Mode, leaves us open and vulnerable, for we are creatures of habit, and yes, Curiosity.
All sorts of options that might make us a little more comfortable, through immediate self-gratification like drugs, alcohol, and other addictions, providing just the ideal condition to make poor decisions.

Some of us form an "addiction" to those things we try when bored or in  "Default Mode". (Remember, our brain operates with two sides:  The logical and then, the reactive emotional artistic side of our brains}. Some people, like my children use both equally.  Moderate drinking is fine because the person drinking, has no desire to experiment further.  Logic tells them they don't want anything negative in their life and logic shows them through others experiences, they have no desire to go there.  They are in the proactive mode and manage to stay there always moving forward.

Logic tells us we can quit our drinking or drugs or overeating when we want.  We tell ourselves, we just don't want to quit.  We are ignoring our world around us, and everything in it including those that love us.  We have gone from the Default Mode to Our Helpless Mode.  We move from denial to justification over and over again with a BIG "HIGH" and a "BIG "LOW" when we continue abusing whatever it is we have formed an addiction with.

When we face the consequences of our choices, we begin to move out of denial.  "Where did the light go in our lives?"  The sunshine, fresh air, and simplicity?  The Positive things we used to enjoy.  WE SEEK OUT immediate gratifications, to fill a void that has developed over time.  However, CONSEQUENCES, are the cost.  We are so "focused" on our addiction, we aren't seeing our world crumble around us.

We now decide we will exercise our  WILL POWER and try to quit whatever we have been abusing.

How long we stay in the "Helpless Mode" is determined by how far, and how long, we have been doing this and how MUCH our life had to be destroyed before we begin to try.

Our "WILL POWER, is no longer available to use for us, because we are NOT IN CONTROL ANY LONGER.. AT WHAT POINT, WITH THIS ADDICTION, INSTEAD OF US "CONTROLLING"THE ADDICTION,THE ADDICTION BEGAN "CONTROLLING, US??
WE DON'T KNOW AND SOMETIMES, WE JUST KEEP DOING WHAT WE ARE DOING, JUSTIFYING, THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME FOR US, AND IT IS NOT. THEN CONSEQUENCES LIKE NO JOB, NO MONEY, NO LOVED ONES, NO ROOF OVER OUR HEAD, ARE ALL BECAUSE WE DIDN'T QUIT BY USING OUR SO CALLED WILL POWER..
WE ARE POWERLESS....IN THE HELPLESS MODE.

In order to get "control" of our addiction, we must GIVE into the fact our "addiction" controls us.

Believe it or not, it is bass ackwards from what logically, should be.
Just look at the first step from "alcoholics anonymous" towards recovery:  Step one:  We are "POWERLESS" over_________and our lives have become unmanageable.

Addiction is now KIlling more people than car accidents according to recent CNN Polls.

We use our will power, in our PROACTIVE MODE.  It works wonderfully.  We do NOT use it in our "HELPLESS MODE".  How do we know where we are?  WE MUST STAY AWARE, AND BE AWARE OF WHERE WE'RE AT.  SELF-AWARENESS LEADS TO HONESTY.  WE STOP LYING TO OURSELVES, AND WE HIT BOTTOM.  WE STOP OPERATING THROUGH OUR EGO, ALLOWING HUMILITY TAKE ITS PLACE.

For anyone out there, who has an addiction that is making AND taking their choices for them, please read this for sometimes, to get to the right destination, we realize we need help with the address and directions to get there!  NO HARM OR SHAME IN THAT....

I have suffered with addiction, so these suggestions and thoughts come from a very humble place in my heart.  For me, AA was the answer...My close friend sought a Behavior Modification program and there are treatment centers for those of us that are "STUBBORN" which means they weren't able to submit they no longer controlled their lives, the addiction did.

There is a life to lead out there and for me, through Jesus, I ask for my directions, because I know they will be precise and exact!  I had to accept it was facing TRUTH:  We were no longer in control. I was able to do this through a higher power, I could humbly get my life back.

 I pray for all of us we don't fall back in the "Helpless Mode" along our way to recovery;
but if we do, don't forget:   There are open hearts and loving hands,
A listening ear that understands,  God will show us a new plan,
in truth, and hope we then can stand

This is an intense poem, so please read at your own risk.

Right now, you may not know it but your life is being destroyed and controlled by drugs.  The drug decides how your day will be.  The drug decides who and how many people you will lie to today.  I hate writing like this, but I see no other option if I wish to make an impact…
Wake up in this morning with my first thought the same
Who and how and what can I sacrifice and who can I blame?
It's their fault and his fault and I don't need them
I have an itch I must scratch, get my fix, things are slim.
What role do I play are we victims today? I will get what I need,
Sacrifice all the way
I'm not alone
Yes, lets leave our kids we're in this together,
With something in common were closer than ever…
We had them, but we leave them behind,
See, we don't really care, were deliberately blind,
We will get what we need and pay any cost,
We live for today, but the truth is we're lost..
We stole from our family, charging up stolen cards,
Now we are free, any feelings of guilt, we quickly discard
We blackmailed our family,
And broke every rule,
thinking, together, that they are the fools
Disconnected our phones,  left the kids with the state
Stole from our family, We now determine our fate
Conning is fun, when you set the stage,
God is our loser and we've turned our page
We lie to the world, what matters is IT
We cheat yes we scored, hurry melt it…  It's lit
Grab that belt or our long rubber tie
You know that I need it, without it I'll die
We're liven life now, I fixed you up too
You are my world, just forget what we knew
She did know the difference between right and wrong.
But you are her leader so she follows along!
Denial is funny, get to break all the rules.
We lie cheat and steal, and they are the fools..
We're set for the day, dealing to score
Wow hit me again, baby , just a little bit more!
Hit me again, I need to go higher,
I like where I am, too close to the fire
Now time slows to a stop and so does my breath.
What's happening now? no, I didn't cheat death
You had to control her, isolate her alone,
She's in shock.  she picks up the phone
She thinks:  things are fuzzy can't remember the numbers,
Of those she once loved just, 911 not the others
If you could do it different, what would you do?
This is your story, change the end, OR THIS WILL BE YOU….https://www.dailywisdomwordsblogspot.mistakes/2015
